Living by our ethical compass

How we find the right direction

At Carlsberg, doing business with integrity is not just expected - it is essential to protecting our heritage and sustaining the trust placed in us by customers, partners, and communities around the world.

Our Code of Ethics and Conduct provides the foundation for the standards we live by. It sets clear expectations for how we behave and includes practical guidance on making ethical decisions, regardless of location or role.

To bring our values to life, we empower our people through the Live by our Compass programme - an important part of our winning culture. It offers concrete guidance on ethical behaviour and underscores the importance of integrity at all levels of our organisation.

But we don’t stop at setting expectations - we actively monitor how we live up to them. Through a combination of internal audits, employee culture surveys, and SpeakUp reporting trends, we regularly assess and identify opportunities to strengthen our culture of ethics and compliance. Critical areas of focus include, but are not limited to, anti-bribery and corruption, competition law, third-party screening, financial controls, and travel and entertainment.

As we passionately brew our beer and grow our business, we remain committed to our culture of accountability and help ensure that integrity remains at the heart of everything we do - guided by Our Compass and our values.

Acting with integrity - the Code of Ethics & Conduct

Our Code of Ethics & Conduct (“the Code”) details the ethical values we hold and describes the expectations of our people and those with whom we work.

The Code helps our employees around the world to make the right choices and to act appropriately in response to ethical dilemmas they may encounter in their daily work. The Code has been translated into local languages and applies to all employees.

The Code is extensive but not exhaustive, so it does not address every possible situation. We therefore expect our employees to exercise sound judgement in their decision-making in order to adhere to the highest ethical standards.

The policies provide central direction, mitigate key company risks and underscore the behaviour expected of employees

We have clear policies in place, effective for the management, employees and contract workers of all entities in the Carlsberg Group. The policies include but are not limited to Labour & Human Rights, Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Competition Law and Environment.

In order for employees to have easy access to our 29 policies and 200+ manuals, we have a single online platform covering all codes, policies and manuals, accompanied by a comprehensive communications package.

Don’t Stay Silent – Speak Up for a Better Today and Tomorrow

At Carlsberg we're dedicated to conduct business with integrity, in a responsible and ethical manner.

Being honest, compliant, having a sense of responsibility and showing people respect define our Code of Ethics & Conduct. Therefore, we have a process for speaking up about potential violations of our Code of Ethics & Conduct, policies or applicable laws.

We know that speaking up might not be an easy choice due to fear of retaliation. To address that, we implemented anti-retaliation measures to protect those who raise concerns in good faith. You may find information about anti-retaliation measures and further guidance and information on the process and channels for raising a concern in the SpeakUp Manual.
