Carlsberg Sweden launches electric beer - and takes the next step towards better logistics with Einride

Carlsberg Sweden is taking a significant step towards better logistics solutions. In 2025, the collaboration with the freight technology company Einride will be expanded, meaning that up to 40% of Carlsberg Sweden's transports will be powered by electricity. To celebrate the milestone, an alcohol-free beer will be launched that is brewed, produced, and transported using 100 percent renewable energy and electric solutions.

Carlsberg Sweden was the first in the industry to electrify heavy freight transport in 2022 and is now taking the next step in electrification through an expanded partnership with the Swedish freight technology company Einride.

When Einride's efficient and electric freight technology is fully implemented by the end of the year, eleven electric trucks including trailers will power up to 40% of Carlsberg Sweden's transport operations in southern and western Sweden.

By using Einride's platform, which includes electric vehicles and charging infrastructure controlled by an AI-based operating system, Carlsberg Sweden aims to reduce its total greenhouse gas emissions by the equivalent of 2,460 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year*.

By switching transport from diesel to electric trucks, carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by 93%.

"We are excited about our partnership with Einride and the progress we are making towards better logistics together. At Carlsberg Sweden, we are constantly working to take concrete steps towards a more sustainable business, and having more electric vehicles in our transport chain is one example of this. We hope this can raise awareness of the importance of better and smarter logistics - and inspire others to take action in their industries," says Peter Hammarstedt, CEO of Carlsberg Sweden.

An innovative brewing art: The Electric Beer

Thanks to the partnership with Einride, Carlsberg Sweden has driven 340,000 electric kilometers, the equivalent of eight laps around the world.

To highlight this latest sustainability initiative, Carlsberg Sweden is now launching a limited-edition alcohol-free beer brewed, produced, and transported using 100 percent renewable energy and electric transport solutions.

The alcohol-free beer has a QR code on the can that leads to a series of data points about both the brewing process and the future route between Malmö, Falkenberg, and Gothenburg.

With the campaign, Carlsberg Sweden and Einride want to inspire more people to reflect on how products are made and delivered, highlighting how electrified transport can reduce emissions, increase efficiency, and create long-term business benefits.

"Carlsberg has a strong brewing tradition, and with the help of advanced transport technology, it is now carrying on that legacy. It's not just about sustainability; it's about pushing the boundaries of transport technology, with electric power being a step towards redefining how products are transported. This campaign brings that to life and shows what is possible when tradition and innovation meet," says Linnéa Kornehed Falck, Founder and Vice President of Einride.

Carlsberg Sweden's collaboration with Einride is part of the company's continuous efforts to reduce the carbon footprint in all parts of the business to reach the Carlsberg Group's ambition of a Net Zero Carbon Footprint by 2040.

*2,460 tonnes C02 per year refers to the 8 new electric trucks replacing diesel trucks. By the end of 2025, Carlsberg Sweden will have a total of 11 electric trucks driving the beverage flows in southern and western Sweden.
